General InformationSo you really want to come riding with us! Here is some information about how things work at Rawhide Adventures! There's a lot to cover here so clicking on a title below will take you to that topic: Hours of OperationAbout Our Rides... Riding Restrictions... Paying and Deposits Our Cancellation Policy What to Wear Hours of OperationWe are open mainly for the fair-weather riding season! May 1 - Oct 31. We generally are closed for the month of November, through our Calving Season but you can always send us a note to see if we can get out and ride! About Our RidesWe ride by reservation only! Once booked, we expect that you will be here for your ride 'cause we will!
We have some pretty great horses. They are schooled in different aspects of ranch work and pleasure riding and will match up to your level; even challenge you if you so wish. We take single riders, especially the less confident ones, to groups of eight. We don't mix bookings*, you book the time and it is yours exclusively. We prefer to ride side by side and not trail ride one behind the other, (as terrain and the skill of the participants allow). *If you are a solo rider and want us to mix your booking, we will try an find like-capability riders. PLEASE DO NOT BE LATE! Give yourself ample time to find the Tim Hortons on the way up! You can arrive a bit earlier to get the paperwork done and help brush horses. Early or late, we will return to the Ranch as per your booking! Our Riding RestrictionsWe do have age restrictions: Unless they are Intermediate to Advanced on our honesty scale, children under 12 are not physically and emotionally equipped for our main riding adventures. We also have a weight restriction - sorry, no riders over 250lbs. Paying and DepositsWe accept:
We expect a 50% deposit in order to book your date followed by the balance on the day of your reservation. If using eTransfer, we will email you the instructions. If paying by credit card, we will process your deposit payment over the phone. If paying by cheque, your cheque can be mailed to us. We will hold your date giving you first right of refusal should someone come along before your cheque arrives! Once your deposit is processed, the reservation is yours! Our Cancellation PolicySometimes weather wreaks havoc on all our best intentions; however please let us be the judge of what weather is bad! The weather up here can be way better than what you are experiencing at home. We ride in most conditions (except snowstorms, torrential downpours and lightening!) and we will provide you with an outback coat if necessary. If you really must cancel your ride: Please call us and let us know at least 48 hours in advance of your booking. We will apply your deposit to a future date/time that works for both our calendars. If we need to rebook because Mother Nature won't let us ride: we will rebook your ride and apply your deposit to that future date/time that works for both our calendars. What to Wear…For some crazy reason, this year was the year of the fashion statement! Even though we tell people what to wear, and we direct them here for information on what to wear, some people chose to do their own thing and came back from their ride with scratched arms or scratched cold ankles! We ask you to choose your attire carefully - and follow our guidelines as what you wear will definitely affect your riding comfort! So, from the top of your head to the tips of your toes...here are our suggestions:
